OP said: "I am a stickler about sticking to the wt limits" Does include GVWR of the TV. 250/2500's can easily exceed GVWR. That truck most likely has a 8800 GVWR which anything over a 9-10K 5er will put you over. I towed a 12,200-12,400 5er with a 2001.5 RAM 4x4 Std CAB long bed and was well over the trucks GVWR(8800) and RGAWR(6084), but under the optional factory LT265/75R16E which provided 6830 pounds of capacity.

LOL!!
Chris, that is only because you had the twin tool boxes in the bed of the TV, my guess is that rig likely weighed in at about 8,200# or so empty!!
If he wants a 5er, that will and stay within ALL of the TV weight ratings, it is going to need to be very light.
OP needs to hit the scales with the TV full of fuel and all passengers then post back axles weights and ratings, and the TV GVWR, before we can really help if he insists on staying within all weight ratings.
You are confusing it with my 2015. 7K with me sitting in it. Reemember it was a standard cab. Chris
