WE just had our awning on our 2012 322FKS Jayco damaged not by winds but from that super storm here in Michigan a few weeks ago. 1st time ever, my own fault for not lowering one side of our electric awning. The weight of the water took out one arm.
In the past if the winds were over 25mph or if sever storms were coming we would undo the tie downs and retract it other than that it stays down in most weather.
