I probably wouldn't have purchased the option but my Jayco TT came with the option. We used it all the time. Ours hung on the side of the TT. No problems. When we traded it off for a MH I didn't want to drill holes in the new MH so I bought a 10 ft extension hose on Amazon. With the 10 ft and 3 ft I can get several feet away from the MH on a Coleman stove stand and feel more comfortable BarBQing. We use it all the time. I do agree the purchased option is kind of cheap. We have been using ours for about 3 years now. When it wears out, probably soon, we'll replace it with a better quality grill but still use all the quick connect fittings.
I am kind of a fanatic on safety. I do not like to carry propane bottles in closed compartments. They do outgas as you go up and down in elevation. Especially if they are full. For TTs or 5vers you can carry them in the back of the PU and use separate bottles. In a MH I don't have a choice it is either charcol or use the quick connect. JMHO.
