I have a 2013 Ram 2500 with the IBC. I'm having trouble setting the gain on the unit. I followed the set up instructions, including using the hand activated knobs to try to get the trailer brakes to lock up at 20-25 mph but they won't lock up even on the highest setting of 10.
I think there is supposed to a "light electric" and "heavy electric" setting but I can only find the "light electric" in the EVIC.
Has anyone had this issue or know of anything else I can try.
I do get some trailer brakes when I use it but I want to get it set as tight as it should be to give me maximum braking.
Any advise is appreciated!!
I was not able to get much braking out of my last 5th wheel (36 ft 12,500 lbs). An RV shop tried everything- changed brake pads, adjusted them, replace wiring, talked with axle company, etc. Nothing we did would make them very good. I had no problem getting my horse trailer wheels to drag if I wanted them too, so I knew it wasn't the controller.
I traded campers and I can get these to drag if I want to. As a matter of fact, I came up on a speed bump a while back that I did not see and had to brake hard. I left a blue cloud of smoke when the 6 trailer tires locked up (42 ft 18,500 lbs). It's nice to know that I can drag them if needed, but would rather they brake hard without. Anyway, my point is, some trailers may not be capable of locking up.
PS, I don't think my 2010 Dodge IBC has a heavy and light trailer setting. They must have changed something since 2010.
