Yes, I have several times on both coasts. I've never been bothered. My rig is legal in my home state of Texas, good enough for me.
I'm not a fan of "state-rights", leads to many silly local laws. Makes no sense that when you cross a political line on the interstate you become a law- breaker.
Either it's safe, or it's not. My setup is safe.
