- aruba5erExplorerUnless 10 has gotten better in the last 4 years, I'd find a differant route. Worst highway i've ever been on. Louisiana being the worst.Thought the axles were going to leave me. Maybe it is better now but the last time I went more north and took 20 so it's been 4 years. I don't like KOA because they are built too small for todays rigs and charge too much for stuff I don't need or use.Never had a problem finding a place to stay.
- Coach-manExplorerYou have a computer, I have down loaded an app "Mobile RVing" it lists RV parks all over the US, and has write ups about the park. Good resource. BTW, nice KOA in Austin Texas, a little out of the way, but worth it!
- filrupmarkExplorerThere is a nice KOA in Scott La. ( Lafayette) Lots of great cajun food nearby.
- WeBeFulltimersExplorerWhy would anyone want to stay at a KOA? :h
- Cat_LadyExplorerYou might want to try KOA Trip Planner

Have a safe, enjoyable trip.
Cat Lady - trop-a-calExplorerIf you look at the maps you will see you don't take I-10 all the way to Texas, as you have to take I-12 for a bit in LA. I-10 is 840 miles from east to west just to get through Texas. There are not many places to stop once you are halfway though. Figure on plotting all your fuel stops and rest stops. Try to avoid rush hours through major cities. In San Antonio There is an RV park near the Alamo. Check weather before you head out, and make sure you are on good tires. Have fun!
- joe_b_Explorer IIWe tend to stay at numerous KOAs when we are traveling, usually for one night. I do believe the Tallahassee East KOA, near where Hwy 19 goes south off of I 10, just may be the worst, most run down KOA where we have ever stopped. Last time we went west on I 10 was 2013. The KOA in Baton Rouge is nice and will stay there again as we have in the past. In Tallahassee, we like to stay at the Tallahassee RV Resort, just off the Interstate a half mile, give or take. The KOA at Milton, near Pensacola is also nice, large sites, clean, easy on and off the Insterstate.
The KOA in Lafayette, LA is one of the best in the franchise, IMHO We also stay at Poche's Fish Camp and RV in Breaux Bridge, just a few miles north of the Insterstate. Real nice place to stay as it is built around fishing ponds.
Most trips we cut north at this point on I 49, to Shreveport and on to I 20 to head on west through Dallas/Fort Worth and north west out of there to Amarillo. - DownTheAvenueExplorer

ok... here we go... leaving florida heading to Arizona.... via I-10,,, looking to stay at the KOA's... anything we should know..?
If you want to stay at KOA's then why don't you just go to their website, which is not surprisingly www.koa.com, and just plan your trip from there. - rv2goExplorer IITake a break and stop at the "Thing" in AZ. You will start seeing the billboards miles and miles before you get there.
The Rex Allen Museum in Willcox, Arizona is interesting if you are "in to" old western movies. - darsbenExplorer IIAre you trying to make time?
Are you willing to detour and stay a while somewhere.
I also do not understand about KOA.
I did stay at a campground in Fort Stockton, TX last winter at Hill top RV park.
nothing special but clean quiet with good laundry
