We have had a 5th wheel for 9 years. The key is to check and check again. Hubby and I do the hitching together and when one of us completes a task, the other rechecks. That way if we forget something, the other catches it. After backing into the pin, we both check to make sure it is hitched properly and then do a pull test. Does this mean we will never have an incident? No, but it does reduce the probability greatly.
