Hi everyone! thanks for your many replies and kind thoughts and wishes. MAN, this has been stressful! Some have suggested that he hitch is supposed to be offset as i captured it in my picture yet and RV mechanic with 25 years of experience in the field clucked his tongue and said ****! that isn't supposed to look twisted like that! As far as the liability of the tow truck driver and his company, that is, at least at this point, not in my scope. I am going to let the insurance companies decide what action to take. I guess if they take flight and abandon me I will have not choice except to take some form of legal action. I am hoping that the insurers will look after me and then seek compensation from the tow company - or am I just living in a state of blind and dumb naivety?
The RV appraiser was here yesterday and did a walk around the trailer noting the damages that I posted as well as some additional stuff that I didn't see. He seemed perplexed by the appearance of the large soft spot in the main floor area after the towing incident and actually got down on the ground and examined the tires and mud caked up on the tires as well as the bulge on the one. He left saying that the RV would have to be taken to a facility for a full frame examination after dropping the belly pan. He said that once I got the go ahead from the insurer, after he had filed his report, that we could choose whatever RV repair facility we were comfortable with. We are pretty upset about the prospect of losing our home for an unknown period of time and I am researching our insurance policy to see what our coverage is for temporary loss of home.
The truck is going in for repairs on the 26th of this month and the repair will take up to two weeks at a cost of $12,500.00. New truck boxes for this generation of F350 is unobtainium according to the local FORD parts guys so the box will have to be rebuilt using new separate pieces. I really, really hope that the shop is as good as the recommendation that they came with.
I am exhausted and I have a massive headache!
Cheers All!
