According to the DRV website:

IMHO unless you want to get a MDT the RAM Cummins Aisin 4.10 dually is the only real choice with rear air ride. Yes a 450 would do but you will be adding air bags for sure.
Looking at the Rams last November I found the 4X4s to have a payload capacity of ~5300 lbs which was roughly the same Ford offered in their F350 4x4. I'm not even sure any of the Rams on the lot were equipped with air ride. I also don't believe an F450 will have any more payload per the specs I reviewed.
As far as the weight of a DRV, the 38RSSA we viewed on the lot had a placard listing a ~1950 payload capacity with a GVWR of 19K. Are you suggesting the dry weight is incorrect? While I would agree they're heavy, there's only one person I know who tows 2K over it's rating :)
