Interesting thread since we are currently comparing the two companies as well.
We have experience with DRV and that's the reason they have been consistently at the top of our list for our next 5'er. Excel is also a very well-built rv. Each has advantages over the other. Just need to nail down what will work best for us.
No doubt that Excel makes an excellent product. DRV does as well. DRV interiors appear to be more upscale. Some of Excel's manufacturing processes seem to be better than DRV.
Both are 4 season rated. DRV says they are "The Only True Four Season Coach", which is not true. I hate false advertising. It misleads people who don't do thorough research. If you have total faith in your product then there's no reason to make false claims.
Excel's water manifold is better laid out than DRV, in my opinion. As is the location of the batteries and hydraulic system.
I dislike the location of Excel's power cord connection. I prefer it in a lockable compartment with a power cord reel such as what DRV offers.
The list goes on and on. Whatever we choose we'll have to live with for several years so we want to make a wise decision.
