Durable vent cover

I've been replacing vent covers lately as my trailer is getting older. The sun takes its toll on the plastic covers and they become brittle. When removing snow from the roof in winter months, a slight touch to the vent covers leaves me up on the roof with a trash bag and roll of duct tape to create a temporary patch to get by till Spring.

I'm looking for recommendations for replacement vent covers that are more durable and resistant to solar degradation. I've seen some on line that are advertised as "non-breakable" but would like to hear from those that have had experiences with them to narrow my choice.

Thanks in advance, T

  • We installed Max Air covers over our vents last season. Easy to do and well worth the money and effort.
  • My Maxxair covers have been on my trailer for the past 13 years and have been exposed to the very hot Florida sun for the past 13 winters. They are also exposed to the elements all year long. They show no signs of deterioration yet.

  • I also just put the maxxair vent covers over all the vents and dont worry about them
  • I put maxx air vent covers on mine. It will protect your vents and allow you to leave your vents open during rain. If you have an "escape hatch" oversized vent as I do with one, you are basically out of luck.
  • I installed the double layer ones on mine. They are supposed to be cooler in Summer, warmer in cool weather (not supposed to sweat), and a hail stone would not likely go through both layers.

  • I wanted to get the unbreakable vent lids when mine were broken in a hail storm, but they were unavailable for my model. I think there are 4 different models of vent lids.
  • Camco 40168 unbreakable vent lid Amazon about $24. I installed a couple years ago. Haven't been through a hail storm yet but these covers are a lot heavier.
  • Camco has replacement Lexan covers- same material as the Fantastic. They do last quite well.
  • I'll be following this one. Every time we have a hail storm, I have to replace the vent covers. The Fantastic fan covers are fine; never had to replace one.

I have not been able to find a better quality vent cover though. I guess you could replace all the vents with Fantastic fans. Kinda expensive solution.
