Educate me why GM 1 ton towing capacity is so much less

I think the next generation of GM half ton's are due out sometime next year. The heavy duties will follow some time later if past patterns are repeated. I would bet you will see some ratings that will rival Ford and Ram very well.

We are long time GM owners and switched to Ford, not for the towing capacity but for the features Ford offers that the others don't. All 3 are very good and capable trucks, just depends on what you like.
