I use a bungee cord.
I attach the bungee cord to the electrical cord at about the same level as tailgate handle then I attach the hooks up at the base of the kingpin (where the extra holes are).
This stretches it enough to keep it from slapping the tailgate but not so tight as to damage the plug.
This also allows it to stretch and move as needed as the superglide hitch does its thing.
I have been doing this for 4 years now and now scratches.
I wish I had a picture of it.
