First rule in advertising - never drawn attention to your competitor.
GM is still doing it with the aluminum bed campaign all the while they are readying their own next gen aluminum 1/2 ton.
Fans on GM forums nash their teeth over the brain dead marketing department .
They mocked the step and now?
They mocked the aluminum and now?
They have not mocked the styling to much but now they are copying Ford's dropdown window style to .:W
New GM window style copies Ford
Smart move GM. On all 3 things. :B
They just wouldn't look so silly if they could hold back a bit on bashing the competition. Kindas like a guy who's the big boss now.
You truly do not think Ford has not done the very same thing when it comes to "copying things" do you?

Tailgate Step
Classic GM about face.
I still get a laugh when I see Howies truck bed is full of heavy bags and the Ford has a large bird house in the bed. :BPerrysburg Dodgeboy wrote:

Actually the step in front of the license plate is just as effective as the corner steps.
I'm confused; must have missed something. What if the tailgate is down?
I think he is talking about the step in a tailgate.
Actually I'm talking about the step on the bumper in front of the license plate which all truck's have.- bfast54Explorer

Absolutely I just cannot wait until GM comes out with the aluminum box (which it will ).....after they spend all this MONEY on commercials......complained about Ford's
and then they come out with their tailgate step after doing the Howie Long commercial about the man step
yeah GOVERNMENT MOTORS is just always a step behind.....:W - Perrysburg_DodgExplorer

The tailgate step does have it's uses, but there are times I need or want to get into the bed of my truck with the tailgate in the closed position. The GM bumper steps work well in my opinion, and after having them consider it to be a great way to access the bed. If it was an option to have the tailgate step or the bumper step, I'd choose the bumper step. Plus what happens to the tailgate step once the tailgate gets bent a little, as you see all the time on trucks that are hauling materials. Not knocking the tailgate step, just another way of looking at it.

I remember when that ad came out... I know a lot of people who bought Fords because they saw the tailgate step in that ad! Whoever came up with that ad should have been fired.
Or... maybe they were hired by Ford? lol - hone_eagleExplorerLeaving the hitch in all the time is illegal in a lot of states / provinces.

If my trailer is hitched up, I step on the trailer frame then into the bed.
:) Hi, while hitched to my travel trailer, I step on the trailer frame too.
