Electric automatic jacks

My 38 Foot 5'r uses a four post electric jacking system. If it needs to jack a lot, (wheels off the ground) the door will not lock, since the frame flexes too much. But if it just levels while able to keep the wheels on the ground, it works great.

I learned this the hard way, first time we took ours out I dropped the front legs using the pins as far as they would go as I normally did with the standard system ,well the rear jacks contacted the ground alright and lifted it somewhat but the unit kept calling an error and it wouldn't level up. It took till the next day for me to realize that I was only supposed to lower the front jack pins the first four or five holes. Funny thing was the ground didn't look that far out of level. When I did get it levelled the tires on right hand side were actually off the ground although just barely enough for them to rotate. I wasn't using blocks at all thinking that the large feet didn't need it , but now I use them all the time.

I have a 36' fifth wheel, which has front landing gear and rear stabilizer jacks. I find that I get a fair amount of "bounce" when walking through the unit. I solved the problem by using telescoping jacks on the frame. I put one just forward of the spring hangers on the frame, and one aft of the rear spring hanger, for a total of four jacks. This takes all of the movement out of the rig, and makes it much more comfortable.

I used these, which work wonderfully.

I only paid $40 per pair. They're currently listed at double that, plus shipping. Not sure why. Still a lot less expensive than the $4,000.00 cost of having automatic levelers installed.

Well there you go - DRV box frames will "Warp" if they didn't have a 6-pt leveling system. Must be a Lippert thing :)

Ours has the 4 point system and has a heavier frame. Some of the manufactures have to use a 6 point system as their frames are a bit on the light side and will warp with a 4 point system.

Before you spend the money you might want to consider:
(1) Will you be keeping the RV for several more years?
(2) How often do you set up and tear down?

We are full time and have visited just over 26 different CG's in 2014 so far. I would not be without the 6-point level up system.

Ours is 4 point active leveling with 2 stabilizers amidships.

I really like my 4 point system as other have mentioned, 4 point vs. 6 point is really a function of the frame integrity.
While I love my system I'm not sure I'd spend the money $3K? or so to install an aftermarket set up.

We have a BayHill that is 36' and has the four point system (hydraulic). The next size up is 38' and they come with six point leveling. 37' is probably right on the edge of either one working, but I would think 4 point would be fine.
