Hey, originally was like both of you...I thought, what a joke and a waste...BUT, I was also purchasing a brand new 06' HR in Oct. of 07' and got one heck of a deal on this 5er, so cost of the silly electric fireplace was a moot point....BUT, like you two..after playing around with it and having used it for years now with zero issues....I love it!! As I stated earlier it does have 3 fan speeds and you can also adjust the range of heat, up to 1500 watts.
Friends got a kick out of setting in the living room with us in July and asked about the fireplace and we turned the flame on, minus the heat.... they loved it....
