NO! NO! NO! the Circuit breaker panel does this for you.

1. The circuit breaker for the A/C is (may be) 20 amp 110 volts. Do not change this because you can cause the wires from the circuit breaker to the A/C to melt and catch fire.

2. The plug for a 50 Amp RV has 4 wires. , , Photo of 50 Amp plug , , , Between the two outside pins you have 220 volts which is not used in he RV. The circuit breaker in effect splits the 220 into two legs each of 110 volts.

3. Thus you already have two 110 volts circuits so you can run TWO 20 amp A/C.

Not sure WHY you are asking the question the way that you are but.....

It appears that you don't have a good grasp on how "50 amp" service really works.

It IS 220 service; two 110 feeds and a neutral. EACH 110 feed is designed for 50 amps, wire size, plugs and main breakers. No transformer is needed.

Like another post said, if you are putting in a new circuit in a building, you NEED to "engineer" it to the same 50 amp spec's as the campgrounds do. Same receptacle, same wire size and a twin 50 breaker.

I may have missed it but how do you know it's about dogs? I read it 4 times and only see one post from op. I dont disagree but you got esp or sumpin. :)

We travel with our dog all the time (and our cat). They never stay behind. The cat stays in the camper when we're away. The dog always comes with us where ever we go. We never leave the dog inside the camper alone. We don't think he barks, but we just aren't sure.

Once we did an experiment on the dog. (at home). We put the dog in the camper while we went to Wall Mart (about an hour trip). We put one cell phone in the camper and the other with us. Called and made the connection. We listened what the dog did while we were gone. Poor thing barked the entire time we were gone. So we decided we'd never leave him alone in the camper again. And we haven't. It now been almost 7 years. If we cannot take the dog with us, we just don't go there. If we need to go to a store, one of us stays in the truck with the dog while the other is shopping. We select restaurants where we can eat outside with the dog. It' just NO fun at all for the dog to be left alone. ALL they want is to be with YOU! That's all they want! They don't understand the whole concept of camping at all. YOU are their entire world. Don't make it miserable for them.

OP - More information needed - my guess:

1. Your tripping a 20A house CB which is no surprise with your large A/C.

2. You are asking about using a 3 wire 240V circuit like a dryer or shop application. This is what tends to let the smoke out.

What Old-Biscuit said! Do =not= jerry rig this or you'll fry pretty much all your electrics, at best; could fry the entire trailer in a worst case. Install a proper 50a (preferably) or a 30a plug, and use an adapter.

You only have ONE 15K A/C Unit

Breaker tripping.....then either weak CB or A/C Unit is drawing HIGHER than normal amps

Converter is not an issue


What breaker is tripping?
Main AC Panel?
Power pedestal breaker?
A/C individual breaker?

What is AC Voltage.........if 108V or lower causing high amp draw



Jury rigging is NOT your solution.

If this is your home then install a 50A RV plug or at least a 30A. If this is somewhere else then boondock.
