try the inverter. If it is like ours, there will be two reset buttons on the inverter. Sounds like one of them need to be pushed back in. Even though you aren't trying to run the AC off inverter power, the power still needs to pass through it. Sure there are better ways to say that but I know sometimes when I forget and run the toaster and the hair dryer and the space heater at the same time, it will trip one of the buttons on the inverter.
