Francesca, have you actually walked into tire shops ( you say "most", so can we assume you have walked into several different shops and asked ) and actually, really, truly been turned down when you requested to do a swap like this ???
Or is this just perhaps an extrapolation of "ideas and thoughts" based on doing some google searches ?
Some folks live and function in a real world where hands get dirty, sweat breaks out, belly up to the counter, write checks and deal with these sorts of things on a regular basis.
Other folks.....well....maybe not so much so.
ps. I have never, ever, had a tire store refuse to do a service or swap that I have requested. A few times, we have discussed it, and they said, "this may or may not work".....and I said, "let's try it, if it doesn't work, we'll try something else". But they have always done what I requested.
