Escape hatch cover

I am not sure if this is posted in the correct section. I have a 2004 Curtis Baja toy hauler. The escape hatch cover is cracked and leaks water when it rains. Went on the roof and measured the outside flange and it is 22x22. I went on amazon and ordered and Hengs/Jensen replacement that is also 22x22 and When i got it, it is too small and the hinge is a different style. Seems like the new cover should be 23x23. I can not find anything that will fit. Is there a way to make a new one myself and use the existing hardware? Any specialty places that may have a lid that will fit?

Thanks for your help.
  • Many truck campers use the Heki brand of hatch. They are expensive and I try to avoid having one installed rather than an escape side window.
  • Try "rv escape hatch cover". Then chase any mfr or vendor listing them for sale. Most vendors have their own mini store on Amazon, and most are backed by a real storefront you can call for options. And searching for something like "Heng's escape vent" turns up everything that company makes that is sold on Amazon.
  • I went to Camping World and the guy took out his catalog and couldn't find it then he did an online search and said my best bet was Amazon. I have searched online and couldn't come up with anything so far. I will keep looking.
  • Most dealers have access to a pretty large catalog of RV parts. With the proper measurements and photos they should be able to find a replacement cover. If not might need to replace the part attached to the RV but hopefully not.

When I put these three words into google, 'rv escape hatch' I came up with a bunch of shopping options, though amazon is great they are not always the best of more obscure parts. Good luck!
