Excel by Peterson Industries Owner's Group on Facebook

There is an "Excel by Peterson Industries Owner's Group" on Facebook for Excel owners.

It's a closed group and membership approval required.

It does not and cannot compete with this great forum.

But, it provides a place for Excel owners to chat, share their trips, post Excel specific concerns, tips and tricks.
  • Heartland owners have a forum also but it is open for anybody to read. What does Excel have to hide?

    We don't.

There is also an Excel Forum on iRV2 that is open.

Some people don't like and won't participate in open forums. They don't want their information and photos shared with strangers.

Don't post photos, use an alias and don't put your address in the profile.

Unfortunately, that does not bolster a sense of community.

Thus, the reason for the closed Facebook group.

I never cease to be amazed! Who knew that someone advising they had started a new facebook group would be controversial. LOL

If you are not an Excel owner, why does it matter
  • I'd like to be an Excel owner and appreciate the announcement.

It is also part of Facebook rules that one cannot simply start a group and then add friends to it without the friends permission.

I've been an administrator on several groups in Facebook. I have noted many times where I have been added to a group, without even knowing the group existed. Of course, I immediately leave these groups. Its really unethical and just an attempt by whoever founded the group to have a supposedly large following.

The closed group, as mentioned here, has nothing to hide. It is just an attempt to be fair to folks. They join because they want to, not because some over zealous group administrator has added them unknowingly to the group. And since it is a closed group, those who have not joined cannot see all the postings within the group.

So nothing to get upset over. Nothing to hide. It is following rules that many do not even know about.
