Both the 350 and 450 would be pretty much worthless in mud - mine is. The dual tires in rear and weight on front axle make these trucks real pigs in mud (or sand for me). Also as stated above, the load E tires are very hard and cut into the ground like knife blades. I have seen some very good mud tires for these trucks but as much as the trucks weigh, I can't see that helping much.
If you decide to trade, , , the 2011 thru 2014 F450 only comes with 430 gears. You can get 373s in the F350 and that is worth about 2mpg empty. Both models have the guts to pull your RV but the 350 will use less fuel. I bought the 450 because there were no 350s I liked when I was shopping.
I have to say the wide front axle on the 450 is very nice as is the larger brakes. But for towing an RV part time you will be a lot happier with a 350 and better gear ratio.
You would be happiest without a dually if you can figure a way since you are off-road so much.
