Everybody just needs to face it - sheet aluminum is a poor material to use for a pickup truck bed.

I wouldn't say it's poor. The weight reduction is significant.
However strength and corrosion issues are a major challenge. Time will tell if it was a wise decision. - nomad_297ExplorerEverybody just needs to face it - sheet aluminum is a poor material to use for a pickup truck bed.

While getting my daily driver oil changed at the Ford dealership today, I looked at the 2017 Ford F-450's and they all had the fifth wheel prep package so I am pretty sure they have addressed the hitch issue for the super duty... Of course the King Ranch 450 had the largest price tag I have ever seen for a pickup. Just a tad over $80,000. I thought my 3500 gave me a bit of sticker shock...lol.
Hey the Blue Kool-aid crowd will mortgage the house to buy yet another Ford. :B

Every vehicle I own has aluminum wheels pulled up tightly against steel hubs using steel studs and nuts. Not one of them is showing any corrosion issues???
Yeah, but try it with beer can thin stamped sheets and see how it works.

Steel brackets directly against the aluminum WILL cause corrosion issues down the road.

Yep Raw AL steel bolts and rails, I would drill the holes then have spray in bed liner applied. then place some type of thin rubber between the Frame brackets and bottom of bed.

Check with any body shop they are having delays repairing the aluminum trucks. Lots of special issues to deal with related to corrosion - Me_AgainExplorer III
