I have the same truck. I haul a 38 ft Sierra Sport toyhauler with a 2300 lb pin weight. Dry weigth is just shy 11,000 lbs. I have never loaded it to the 15,900 lbs GVWR.
The 5th wheel rating for the 3:73 rear end is 12K.
Stay withing your tire and axle ratings you'll be fine. I'm pulling around 10.5k without any concerns. Not enough weight for me to consider the add'l cost of a diesel.
