friend has a 2014 F350 DRW Diesel 4WD (not sure of cab & bed size) and a Redwood trailer (36RL i think). Trailer GVWR is 16K. When hooked up the truck seems to squat lower than it should cause it's enough to be high at the front of the truck instead of at least level. I would think his truck would be able to handle the pin wt. of his trailer without squatting so much. I (he) doesn't have any actual wt. #'s and he just got the trailer so he hasn't really loaded any personal stuff in it yet. I'm looking for others that may have a similar setup (late model f350 as described above + 16k GVWR trailer) to see if their experience is similar or any ideas on whether this sounds right or not.

I have a '13 F350 DRW 4x4 with a Sandpiper 365SAQ that weighs 15,500 pounds(loaded) and the total rig weight is 25,300 with the 3 of us in the cab. My truck squats about 2-3 inches. Not enough to raise the headlights to where they need adjusting. However, I did put airbags on my truck and love the way the way the rig feels while towing. I put the truck back up to factory rake and go. Won't tow heavy again without airbags.

It was a Ford factory option that came with the truck. It is a Reese solution mounted under the truck bed for a flush mount hitch for both 5th wheel or goose neck.

Reese was the first to offer the drop in hitch for the prep package. But now B&W and Pullrite are also offering drop in hitches for the prep package.

That DRW truck is build to squat. It normally has a natural "rake" when empty. Put a good load on the tail it should squat to level. I know mine does to the tune of 4".
Nothing wrong with that Ford squatting a bit, and I bet while driving at night he isn't getting the flashing of headlights because of blinding oncoming traffic.
He could scale it empty vs loaded, I bet the front axle is pretty much the same weight.

he feels it's squatting enough to make the truck nose high. I asked him to at least take some measurements at the front of the truck to see if that's actually the case and not just a perception.

Same truck here with 15.5k# 5er and seems spot-on when 5er is hitched up.

IMO it can be typical for a 4x4 truck to look like it squats as they sit fairly level with no load vs same truck in a 2wd that may sit with the tail high.

My neighbors '08 F350 DRW 4x4 crew cab 6.4 looks like it squats with his 18k LEQ hooked up even though he is well under the trucks 9000 RAWR.

I picked up a 2014 F350 with the prep packagel I'm pulling a 32' Cameo which I know is heavy. I was pulling it with a F250, using air bags, as it was overloaded. I've estimated the Cameo at 13000+ plus. Yes it squats some, more then I figured, but pulls perfect. The overloads seem to be barely touching the pads. This truck is designed to pull over 22,000 lbs. I should have a thousand plus pounds left. I do need to weight the rig.
