I got lucky, just needed a little "help" from my random orbital buffer. Got all the black marks off, a few scratches where the cords went through the paint but not too bad, could have been much worse.
Got an answer back from Empire, they think they have the flare! Sent over more details, waiting on another response before making the drive to Riverside.
