Yes if you are pulling with a diesel trucks stops take all the guess work out of finding accessible pumps. Diesels have more fuel range which means they can go farther between fill ups which can also be a big advantage.
However if your driving a Gasser there is no simple solution other than doing homework and using google maps to get aerial views of gas stations along your route. This additional pre planning is a PIA however it helps eliminate guessing and finger crossing when choosing a place to get gas.
