Fifth Wheel Hitch for Ram 6.4 Box

Would like advice on best Hitch to install in new ram 2500 diesel with 6.4 box
Do I need a slider or is box long enough for fixed Hitch. What brands work well to tow 14000 lbs. I have pulled trailers, but the fiver will be new to me. Thank all of you for your help.
  • We have a Pullrite Super Glide auto slider. Never have to think about hitting my cab.
  • Oh, perhaps I misread... Do you have a ram box or a ram with a short box?

I have a regular box ram... Never had to slide the hitch. This really depends on the trailer nose tho.
  • Slider alone won't do it, as you will hit the sides of the box when you turn. The only option is a regular hitch with the Reese airborne sidewinder pin box.

This will move the pivot point both up above the height of the bed and back about 30 inches while keeping the weight forward on the hitch.

Might even go so far as to say this is your only option unless someone else makes a similar hitch design.

edit: I must have been into the sauce when I typed this - I assumed you had a ram box for some reason.

The front of the 5th wheel mostly dictates if you need a slider, plus how careful you are with backing.

If you have the RAM puck or willing to install them, this is a good hitch.
