Our F-250 Powerstroke Diesel has a manual sliding hitch installled. Sometimes we tow with it back a notch because we need the space in the truck's shortbox for the motorcycle. Surely notice a difference with the hitch in a further back position. Much more bounce and strain on the truck, even with the heavy diesel engine in the front counterbalancing it.
With the hitch in the best position and our 25' fifth wheel hooked on, the front axle and back axle weight in almost the same. Pinweight of our fifth wheel is about 1,400 lbs, it has a GVWR of 7,000 lbs.
