Good grief....here we go again with the my brand hitch can't be high pinned. Some folks think the only answer is to use my hitch brand
OP.... don't be fooled by those newby type comments as any hitch out there can be hi pinned under the right circumstances. Even commercial grade SAF-Holland big rig hitches can and have been be hi pinned.
Anyways....
I would have the dealer or yourself if your mechanically inclined check the hitch pins/latch and springs for proper working condition.
The latch may show a closed position but still be hi pinned (high hitched). Others that have hi pinned say they saw or heard the hitch close and took it for granted the jaws were closed around the pin.
Some jaw designs have a sliding bar that also needs to be varified its closed properly. Other designs may have a "claw" and a half bar that slides in place behind the claw.
Point is which ever system you have I would work with the dealer so you and he both know its in proper working order
As others suggest I would do a tug test and then get out and see that the jaws are closed around the small part of the pin.
Generally those that have had a drop did so the 1st or 2nd hard turn or as the truck moved forward.
