It doesn't matter what brand hitch you prefer, GET OUT AND DO A VISUAL!!!!
Pull tests are nice, but they are in no way a replacement for a visual check. The posters with the painted jaws and pins are an excellent idea for inexperienced people. I did that with our first hitch so my wife would know what I was talking about, and yes she always double checks me, and doesn't need the paint anymore.
I hate reading about someone wrecking the box of their pickup because I know how I would feel. I always cringe when people recommend pull tests because most don't really know how hard you have to pull to get out from under your trailer. It really only takes a few seconds to look underneath and make sure you are properly connected.
IF you want to flame me for these comments, understand I hauled hazmat up to 120,000 lbs for 17 years, all of it in semis. I just want to impress on the OP that it is very important to do a visual test.
