We full-timed for a little over two years in a fifth wheel, traveling between Montana, Washington, California, and through Nevada, Utah, and Idaho. for the first year, based on the scare stories I read on these forums, I installed aircraft stainless steel .032 safety wire ties on all the pins in my hitch so that it would take a good pair of dikes (diagonal wire cutters) to get the hairpins out.
But the annoyance of having to cut all that wire finally convinced me that nothing ever happened, so why bother!
So, I quit doing that, and sure enough, nothing ever happened.
In case there are those who are wondering...
Montana: Great Falls and Billings
Washington: Poulsbo area
California: Oceano/Santa Maria (we even parked the truck at the Oceano Walmart!) and Grass Valley/Auburn/Sacramento.
Oh, yeah, also spent some time in the Portland/Tillamook/Newport/Grants Pass areas of Oregon, too.
