Securing your genset
It looks like I'm going to be in the market for a "portable" 3000w generator since our trailer is not genset ready. I was advised the front compartment where a genset normally goes, is not prepped by Grand Design for generator use as it is in the more expensive Solitude and Momentum lines. There is no vent nor is there wiring for an on-board Onan.
That means I have to carry the generator on truck bed and operate it from there. These 3000 watt units are near 100 lbs. I don't feel like lugging that kind of weight around every time we set up and break down camp.
I am concerned however, that things can "walk away" if not secured. So how do people reliably secure their gensets to their trucks? A simple chain can be pretty easy to cut with a bolt cutter.
Also, since this thing has pretty hot exhaust, do you rerout the exaust upward with some kind of muffler? And whither the extra gasoline you need to carry? It's very flammable of course so you need to isolate that from the hot genset exhaust.
