I am fairly certain there is no adapter required. Just find a hitch designed for the ford OEM mounting system, you can get it right through the ford dealer but I imagine that is a more expensive way to go.
The reason the guys with the new dodge are buying adapters is because the 5th wheel companies haven't had a chance to make a hitch custom to the spacing of the holes in those trucks. The adapter is converting it to the rails that most of us have in our trucks and then a generic hitch will fit to the rails.
