It's a ball hitch. Gooseneck style as far as local DMV is concerned. As for trusting Andersen, after their lack of response regarding the damage their hitch adapter caused to my fifth wheel, I not only no longer have faith in the hitch I now don't trust the company. Good luck should something go wrong and you end up in court. Using "Andersen said" probably won't cut it. Check with your local authorities and get an answer from those that will be the decision makers.
Aren't you the one that posted pictures of the pin box bent/damaged from using the Andersen Hitch.
Bottom on pin box where king pin is attached all bent up/distorted!!
I have always said....right tool for the job
Gooseneck trailer....ball hitch
5th wheel trailer....5th wheel hitch
I did post the same pictures I sent Andersen. Replaced hitch with a puck mount B&W and replaced pin box with 5th airborne 21k. Downside is I went from a couple niches higher in front than back to 5 inches now. I'm currently over 1k miles into current road trip and handling is great, totally quiet and smoother than before which says a lot since ride was good before. TPMS shows rear tires running 1 it sometimes 2 degrees warmer so will have to weigh rig when I get home. Axles already under springs with long shackles and hit and pin box adjusted as far as can go so no good options. That said, Tows great in wind which I learned towing from cape Dissapointment to gig harbor in the storm yesterday. The shut down the campground at cape dissapointment due to high winds and surf overflowing into some sites.
Will pursue response from Andersen further when I get back. Also need to contact Heartland and Lippert.
