Fifth wheel trailer suspension

Has anyone done or have info on these items
I have 1996 skyline 24’ fifth wheel tandem axel

1 converting to an independent suspension
2. Installed a anti roll bar to trailer suspension similar to sway bars on vehicles for mor more stable tow

I was sold on this Roadmaster comfort ride suspension, and shocks, bought a used fifth wheel from a friend, he had upgraded to the Roadmaster, and went with disc brakes . The initial tow going home it felt great towing, and I never dreamed how well disc brakes stopped a fifth wheel. Would never own another fifth wheel without disc brakes.

But here is my take on a few trips now with the Roadmaster ,would never install it as an upgrade . I have had two fifth wheels now with 15,500 GVWR an older Montana with MorRyde suspension, and this present fifth wheel with the Roadmaster . Now with a few trips loaded with this Roadmaster , its not comparable with MorRyde , IMO MorRyde is the better suspension by far.

Thats a pretty small trailer needing any additional suspension upgrade. Especially IS suspension . Maybe add some shocks or rework the old leaf springs or replace.
  • 1996 skyline 24’ fifth wheel tandem axel...value $6,500
1996 skyline 24’ fifth wheel tandem axel with independent suspension...value $6,500
1996 skyline 24’ fifth wheel tandem axel with independent suspension, new tires and a bunch of new bells and whistles...Value $6,500
My point is once an RV gets to a certain age, it's not worth putting any money into it. You won't gain any value but if money is no object, go for it!

If a 24’ 5th wheel is unstable while towing with a standard suspension, something is wrong with the trailer or truck suspension.
  • We upgraded to the Roadmaster Comfort Ride and it was a big improvement.
  • You must really love your trailer. Not sure I would invest that much into one that old.

    Look HERE - -Morryde

As far as # 2 The Morryde Independent Suspension will more than likely solve those issues on a 24' fifth wheel
