Why did they have to do away with the gravity fill. My 2013 Mountaineer has a vent out the rear that I was thinking about replacing with a gravity fill/vent combo. It was a lot easier to sanitize the tank with the gravity fill.
I totally agree. The "convenience station" isn't so convenient, IMO. I still don't understand why the mfrs simply won't recognize that a significant number of people like to boondock or camp where there may not be hookups. Can you imagine if a single manufacturer offered models in the 25-30' range as a "Boondocker Special", with beefed up suspension, higher clearance, mid-profile, factory-installed solar, =serious= battery capacity and things like gravity-fill water? They couldn't make enough of them!

My manufacturer has been using the new system since 2009. When many boondocker fussed, the manufacturer claims that so many coaches have full body paint and the plastic fill door doesn't retain paint very well, so they went to the new system. I've seen some of the plastic doors in other than the standard white color now. If you think about it, there are several pieces to make up the old system (door, hoses, clamps, holes in the sidewall, etc.)and the new system is obviously cheaper. But this is not a problem with me as we don't boondock. However, it's a little more work to do a fresh water tank sanitize. rockin'
