Finally purchase a 5th wheel and new truck. Thanks to all.

After several years of research and looking for the right 5th wheel for my wife and I we did it. Found a 2010 Mobile Suites 5th wheel and will soon be receiving a new 2017 Ford Dually 350. We were highly considering a new/used Arctic Fox 5th wheel but at the last minute came across this used 2010 Mobile Suites. It is a little longer that I wanted "34 foot" but got a really good deal on it.

Thanks to you all and your recommendations we ordered a new Ford one ton 350, four door, dually which should arrive in a week.

Also I got confirmation from B&W Company and Reese wedge part number is SWW-06 that we can use a B&W hitch "RVK3300" with the right Reese wedge for a Airborne Sidewider Pin Box.

I didn't want to have to completely change out the AirBorne Sidewinder Pin Box if not needed. It seems and or read were the AirBorne Sidewinder pin box works well "set up correctly" with the right wedge and hitch. The Airborne pin box I have is $900.00 to 1,900.00 plus and if not needed , why change it out? Yes the Ford I getting is a long box. Any input or advice?

I am taking off for vacation the first of October and hope to find a quiet spot in the woods to enjoy our new to us RV. Soon I will try to send you all a picture of the truck and 5th wheel.

Thank you all for all the help and advice you been throughout the years.

  • Chuck, Congrats on your new adventure! And... I feel your pain on commutes. I drove 88 miles each way ( though less traffic than you) and worked a 12 hour shift. After 7 days or nights, I was pretty "whipped". Thank goodness for retirement.... one year ago this week! :B
  • One thing to consider is the new truck is quite tall, maybe causing your MS to sit nose high. I hope not for you but my Excel was slightly nose high with our 15 GMC dually but is much more pronounced when hooked to the new Ford. I have good clearance of about 6.5 inches at the rear of the bed and about 7.5 in the front so okay there. I will have the trailer leveled to the truck.

Bring it out to South Beach SP for your shake down and share.
  • Sorry about the details. Maybe after I retire next year I will no long be commuting 114 miles a day, getting up a 3:45 AM to be able to get really for work to be in Portland, Or by 6:00 AM each day.

I am not the best writer in the world and it sure doesn't help sending off something after being up for sixteen hours. It's getting close to 7:30 PM and I have to get to bed for the next work day.

Thank you all for correcting the mistakes.
  • Congratulations Chuck. You'll have a blast with the new setup.
  • Ford is F350 not 3500 but congrats on the new truck and fiver. Enjoy!!
