I don't understand why people feel the need to question other people's decision to do this. Especially when that wasn't what the question was to being with! I'm pretty sure the OP did the math and knows how long 180 months is even if the haven't fully calculated the interest yet.
This is the route my wife and I intend to take and i've even had some of my friends question that decision. Needless to say, they don't pay my bills so i don't expect them to understand my reasoning. I've been through unexpected job loss before so hats off to you guys for bouncing back and happy camping.
