So where are all the owners of 40 footers? Hoping to hear your experiences. Trouble finding sites with pull through and 50 AMP. Pro's and cons. I will need a min of 16.5 ft garage which puts me in the 39 to 42 foot range.
Bring it on. Nothing like real world experiences.
Ours is just over 43', but with a 12'4" garage. I can at least speak to the length and power issues.
Back in sites are mostly pretty easy unless the street is really narrow or someone is parked on the street across from your site. I prefer pull-through sites, or at least an angled site if I can get them. They are not too hard to find but you may need to plan ahead a little more than someone with a shorter rig.
Our long-term site was straight and just barely long enough for us. We recently got a longer, angled site that's much easier to get in and out of.
Worst case for power - our 385TH came with a 36' 50A cord. That was enough until our latest site where the power is way at the back. I needed to get a 15' 50A extension. So far that's been sufficient. We haven't had too much of an issue finding 50A service, and we have an on-board generator for boondocking.
Sewer, you may have some long runs. I found that Valterra Viper hoses tend to stand up well. I have a 15', a 10' and another 10' (we have two sewer outlets, so I also carry a Valterra Y connector in case there is only one sewer connection at the site).
