First Toy Hauler looking for informed input

Well here is the situation.
Getting ready to retire.
Currently own a 99 F550 with a 7.3 and 4.88 rearend.
11 foot TC and 20 foot open trailer.
This set up has served me well for a number of years. But needs are changing.
Toy Hauler needs to haul my 2008 Rhino as well as my 76 Bronco and 94Lightning drag truck. Only one at a time.

Once retired long trips From Phoenix up west coast to Washington as well as trip back to Michigan. Shorter trips to the mountains in AZ.

Need a min of a 16.5' Garage. Length of the f150 race truck. Living quarters for comfort of my granddaughters while at the track. Also room for myself and 2 125 lb Malamutes.

My thoughts on Toy Haulers. Looking at a 2010 42 foot Work and Play.
Interested in thoughts on Haulers that size. And any brands you can suggest that can handle a full size 4000lb truck.
Sorry for being so wordy but wanted to give enough info to give you some background.
thanks
Mike

  • On the east coast, the Work & Play is probably the only brand that can handle such a load unless you buy a full blown race trailer. We had a 30WRS Work & Play for a year and a half for our ATV races and it was a great camper built much tougher than most others. But I suspect the west coast has more choices.

One thing about Work & Play is their height off the ground. I think they're lower than others so watch out with a 40' hauler. If you stay on-road, no big deal. But our races were in some rough areas and we had to be very careful not to drag our tail. I had rollers welded underneath the rear just in case.
