Fiver satallite

Think about satellite receiver for my fiver. Probably Tailgater with Dish. Portable to move around or even put on roof. Go places where they have some trees. How clear of view of the southern sky do you need?
  • I use Direct and the Winegard Portable Satellite Dish, just plug it in and it finds satellite for me. I can move it around to find better angles to get through the trees. Very happy with it.
  • yeah, just a hole will do...I do 99% of my camping in the mountains and have the Winegard SK3500 satellite in my sig on the roof of my 5er with Direct TV and have yet to be in a spot where I couldn't get a signal...and it's Hi-Def...
  • You just need a "hole" thru the trees. Use a sat finder app on your smart phone (I use dishformyrv app) to find an opening. Doesn't take much, but still must be a clear opening.

I do also have the Tailgater.
  • I believe dish also offers portable HD?? HD needs almost total clear view of the sky. Standard def is more forgiving but plan on needing 80% sky visibility for reliable service.
  • Depends on where you are. Farther north, lower angle.

See my dish on the right? Amazing, huh?
