I have a Weekend Warrior Super Lite 5th Wheel. The floor was rotted away at the entrance (side) door in area about 30 by 20 in. It's a strange place since there is no plumbing there, although it's next to the refrigerator. The bottom has a vinyl insulation barrier but I believe it's rotted through. Perhaps the insulation gets wet there and holds moisture. I've had the trailer for 10 years. I only use it about 3 or 4 weeks a year and turn the pump off when I am not using it. I winterize it as well and dump all the water. It's in covered storage when I am not using it. For now I plan to screw a piece of plywood over it until I can get it fixed.I am curious if anyone has experienced the same.

I've seen some of these campers use particle board or blandex for the flooring.If so, that will be reason enough!Brian

yes Cobra, it is some type of particle or strand board. You're saying that is delaminates on its own just by age?

I'm sure it is water related, probably getting in around the door and wicking inward. Fix the leak, replace the floor; that's about all you can do. the leak could be coming from somewhere else though, maybe the refrigerator roof vent?

Our Victory Lane let water in a side hatch. No way for it to get out so the fibreglass insulation below the floor held the wet. I was able to pull out handfuls of ex-plywood.

The floor is OSB.

My TPO roof failed due to poor installation at the front edge.

Replaced the roof.

Then replaced the floor in the kitchen.

Now have discovered that the bathroom floor is also rotted.

The floor has fiberglass mat underneath and the plastic membrane holds water which keeps the fiberglass saturated and then rots the floor.

It could be possible that the wheels could throw rain water up in areas
that wet it from underneath. The particle woods most likely don't use
exterior glue, and I don't think wetness and high humidity are of any help. My son has a... I'll give the company credit, A "Rockwwod Freedom" pop-up with a blandex wood chip floor that is going. Looking
under it you can see it painted black. A poor choice for wood. Same stuff they sheet houses with. If it never gets wet it's fine.

I have no idea how any water got in there. It has a vinyl barrier on the bottom and no plumbing there that I can see. It appears that this is a separate floor section that was cut around the wheel arches and entrance from the rest of the floor. I've covered it with plywood for the rest of the season and will contact a contractor to replace it later.

OK, we've got the idea that the floor material is questionable at best.

My question is how do you replace a floor section that lays under a wall? Can someone explain the process for repair or do you haul your unit to the scrapyard?

Cut or remove all pipes and wires. Use an oscilating saw to cut all screws that attach walls and cabinets to floor. Remove rotten wood and slide new wood in from outside.
