I have a 2013 F350 CC 4x4 LB with 3.55 gears. Started pulling at about 700 miles. If you look in both manuals (truck and diesel addm)you will find one says drive 1000 miles and the other says 500 miles. I don't think it really matters to much. You're mainly trying to seat in the rear diff gears. The engines are already broken in when you get it.
Think about this. Fleets buy a lot of trucks. They go straight to the outfitters where they add thousands of lbs to them with under 100 miles on the odo. The company get the trucks, hooks up trailers or what have you and drive them.
So, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
On another note. I get about 11.5-12.5 pulling @ 70ish and about 14-15 unloaded on the highway at our posted speeds which 75 and 80 depending on where you are on I15.
I don't expect mileage to increase that much due to every time it does an active exhaust regen, you lose mileage. And they will do active regens while towing but most are passive.
One thing to remember. ***Do not put DEF in the fuel tank*** you'll destroy the injector pump and injectors, which is a very expensive oops. I've seen some post where dealers have charged up to $12k for the repair.
