Forest River Axles

We have a 2010 Forest River Wildwood- weight limits observed, bearings packed every 10,000 miles. In spite of this, have had 3 of 4 wheels over the past 2 years almost come off the spindle. Anyone else have same problem? Any suggestions?? Mike & Patty

  • Thanks for the responses. Probably was poor service that caused the repeated problems.
  • I never reuse the cotter pins.I always put new ones in if you are reusing them they are breaking falling out and the castle nut is backing out
  • Did you replace the cotter pins that prevent the casalated nuts holding the wheels on from coming off?. Could be your problem. Lug nuts hold the wheel to the drum while the single nut holds the drum to the spindal.
  • Nothing with the axle can cause this. The ONLY reason this could happen is from somebody not doing a good job when they repacked the bearings. End of story...

  • Who packed the bearings? Wheels come off how? Did the lug nuts come off? Did a bearing fail? You posted a complaint with no supporting information. Try it again and at least give some details.
  • Our last forest river only went about 25000 miles in 7 years. Because we both quit working this forest river has been just over 30000 in the last 3 years. I looked at the brakes once on the first trailer and haven't looked at this one at all yet. Was there some reason you had it apart the first time?
