frame-less window

I posted this on tech without any successful response.Hopefully i will have better response here

I have a frame-less window that shattered. Have a new one on order. When I go to install it I'm thinking of covering it with 3-M auto body protection tape to make it stronger. What do you all think? I'm opened to any other ideas
  • Wont stop it from shattering again but would at least contain it some.
  • I think the consensus of opinion on your other thread was that it wouldn't really add to the strength of the glass, just keep the glass from going all over.

On Edit, I noticed there are no other answers on the other thread. I thought there were several, but they appear to be gone.
  • I had a window blow out. One of the suggestions I received was to use the door edge guard you can find in hardware stores. Unless you wrap the edges of the window with 3M, you are not covering the area that will be impacted by a rock on the interstate.
