Frameless windows

Is there any disadvantage to having frameless windows? Its an option on a TH we are looking at. Sure looks nice.

  • They are all look like the normal framed windows... This is an example of a frameless window--

  • Now my dealer said these windows were the "frameless" windows. I really never looked at them REAL close before until today, and actually saw some things that grabbed my attention. I'm not so sure these are true "frameless", but definitely they are designed different than my Springdale was:

This is one of those things. I about fell over when I actually LOOKED at this:

First, here's a shot from a slight distance:

One slider window (side ways) and 2 crank-out windows:

Exit window in front bedroom, swings completely out:

    Slider window up and down:

    Rear window:

    Living room windows:

How are these things held in the wall.
Although it appears there is a frame around the window, that black "frame" on the outside is actually rubber and it does have calking under it. The actual "frame" of the window does not extend outside the thickness of the wall. That rubber apparently holds the window in place. (might be calking too). When the window is closed, it appears to be seamless (maybe because that rubber is black?)

    Inside:

Here again, the more I look at this, the more I wonder if these are truly "frameless". I suppose next trip to my local dealer for a propane refill, I'll look at their new models.

Anyway, if these meet the criteria for "frameless", be it noted, they are held in place by that rubber trim. I think "true" frameless, the window just overlaps this rubber area, giving the appearance of no frame.

    You judge? No problem!

you learn something new every day! I thought that sliders needed a frame.. and frameless were in fact frameless..!!

When I get home tonight after work, I'll get some close up photos and post them on this thread.
That would be great. I thought the windows were just one piece and didn't realize that they were able to be slid up and down, or side to side. I guess I just haven't looked at them closely enough.

  • My camper has frameless windows, sliders (up and down, and side to side) and crank-out, and the emergency exit window. My previous 2 TT's had the standard frames. So far, as far as functionality goes, there's no difference.

Actually, there IS a frame, it's just more behind the glass, so the window looks like it does not have a frame.

I've had no problems or issues with mine, except for one knob on the crank-out window above the kitchen table that keeps unscrewing and falling on the floor. No matter how tight I make it, it seems to wiggle loose. Only one that does that!
  • Ever notice many times when the RV industry introduces something new in reality it is for their benefit. Not the consumer. I think this is one of those items. Choose wisely
  • When WE were looking.... the huge thing for US was the fact that frameless windows can only be opened like the old style crank up Jalousie windows.. ??? where our dark tinted double pane windows are all sliders... we like a lot of fresh air coming in... that was a huge plus for us...

NOW with that said , maybe things are different now ??
