You are good. What you propose will do exactly what you want.
There has been some confusion since most of us do NOT have the valve to select "Fill Tank", "City Water", etc.
We have one hose filling that provides what you get with your "City Water" setting and a gravity fill port (like the fuel fill on your car) that allows us to fill the fresh water tank. We switch the power to the pump on to "Dry Camp".
