Friction Door

Looking to add a Glacier Peak fifth wheel to our collection. It had a Friction door which we have never seen before. For those of you who have them how are they holding up?
  • If it prevents wind from grabbing it out of your hand and slamming it open, then it sounds good to me. But like the previous poster said, I would still want a regular hold-open latch.
  • We have one.Dont like it.As stated wids will close it.Im currently looking for a latch to install like the old style doors. Not gale force winds either,im taliking 15-20 mph will close it.
  • We just purchased the Montana 3735MK. And it has the friction doors. Not sure if I like it or not. I understand the purpose. Just need to try it for a while to see it work.
  • So what if I put Loctite on regular hinges? It sure made a pair of pliers mighty stiff when left in the tool box a few years ago.
  • we have one on our Fiver also . no latches or plastic holders to worry about . just open the door to whatever opening you want and the hinges will keep it there . in high winds it will not stay where you may have it set ,but I willn ot slam shut.

  • I've got one on my Grand Design Solitude. I like it, it won't hold it open completely in strong wind, but doesn't let it slam either... I like it

Its the entrance door to the fiver that stays open through friction of the hinges. You do not have to use any devices to hold the door open. Seen them on the new FR's and they are nice feature.

Thanks for the description, now I know
