Front cap

I did a MAJOR cleaning on my rig today. Debuged the front cap noticed it looked alittle grimmy. Was wondering if buffing the plasitic was the right thing to do. Is there a better way to clean the plastic cap. Thanks in advance.

  • There's a lot of auto products out there, but a good marine\rv compound to remove oxidation works well. There's also plenty of waxes and sealers to help prevent further deterioration of gel coated fiberglass products in the marine isle of auto parts stores. I had several nasty brown drip marks down the front of my cap that only a medium cut compound and a good quality, multi speed orbital polisher could remove. It still took a lot of time and elbow grease.
  • You're going to get a plethora of answers with this question. There are many options. The last thing I tried, at the recommendation of our local fiberglass specialist, Dr. Glass, was a product called SeaPower Worked awesome after I learned how to apply! One of those "read the directions" moments!

Here is kind of a "Before/After" picture.
